The Melampo SS21 Camera View Collection, was born in between Milan and Berlin during the lockdown due to the current pandemic, and it is the result of how the way of relating and working and consequently of dressing has changed during our new daily life.
The social distancing due to the current Pandemic has changed the way to relation and work. The social life and the working relations are carried out through (by) social and communication media from the private environment. The way to represent ourselves thought the 2D screen view and limited from the waist up, has perhaps disclosed to the world a more authentic image of ourselves, revealing importance given to the clothes and interiors (background) at the moment to meet the interlocutors on the other side of the screen.
Sometimes overdressed as they were about to leave home for a party or sometimes certainly deshabillé, we discovered our friends and colleagues as well as public figures in their private rooms as newer it would have happened in normal circumstances.
That new paradigm made us reflect on the way to dress at home to be ready at the same time for all new daily circumstances: video-call, laundry session, take out the dog or open the door to the messenger…we started to work on the typology of clothing used inside and outside home, considering their story, utility meaning or stereotype, and we selected the more close to Melampo world: Men shirt and Nightgown.
With the Camera View Collection we introduce you the first three episodes of our #melampodiaries, a new project from Melampo, which aims to tells the intimate story of inspiring girls in their environment. The tale starts from Berlin, the capital inspiring us the most and our second home.
